Every August, ALDI marks Book Week by flogging off Dr. Seuss books for $4.99, which is a big discount on the RRP of $11.99.
In both 2024 and 2023, it put 20 Seuss titles on sale. But in a major reversal of Seussian fortune, this year it is only selling 14 titles. Here’s the complete list:
- How The Grinch Stole Christmas
- Green Eggs And Ham
- Happy Birthday To You!
- Horton Hears A Who!
- Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?
- Oh, The Places You’ll Go!
- Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!
- The Cat In The Hat
- The Eye Book
- The Foot Book
- The Lorax
- Thidwick The Big-Hearted Moose
This list does include the obvious Dr. Seuss highlights: that Cat In The Hat, ye olde Grinch, my personal favourite the Lorax and some green eggs.
But it also includes a couple of also-rans: The Eye Book and The Foot Book. And it doesn’t include Hop On Pop, which seems like a miss.
At this rate, by 2026 we’ll potentially just see half-a-dozen titles on sale. And if you want a full-ish Seuss shelf, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
